what's the attraction?

Will someone please explain to me what the attraction is to Angelina Jolie? So, she's got boobs and long legs - most women have those parts - but she is the most unpleasant woman I have ever seen. It appears that she wants to be a part of the Hollywood scene - she walks the red carpet at the Oscars - but she obviously doesn't think very much of the people around her. She barely smiled as she made her way through the crowd. As a matter of fact, she looked like she was simply tolerating the attention as if it were the biggest hassle of her life. If she hates it that much, why does she bother?

I was astounded by all of the people who gushed over Angelina last night and again this morning on T.V. Is it just a case of, "She looked at me! I must now be as cool as she is?!" I think it's sort of pathetic. She wants to be an example for other people? Then she should lighten up and smile. Be kind to everyone, not just the "needy" people in 3rd world countries. Is she nasty to the people in the media because she can't adopt them?

Good Grief!

I agree; she seems like a sourpuss most of the time. Wonder if Brad has regrets? (Weird, my word verification was unpusse)

I agree. I too have posted about her. I am sick of all her plastic surgery at her young age of 34 or whatever. And her filming another movie now after she says she will be a full time mom. Her legs are the ugliest in the business actually. Her tats do not look good on her. I could go on and on!

Hmm... Well, I respectfully hold a differing viewpoint. I think it's entirely possible that she really enjoys her work as an actor, without necessarily enjoying all of the public trappings that go along with it. (And I am not one of those people who says the one thing is just begging for the other, any more than a doctor must necessarily just love working really long hours without sleep, or else why would she be a doctor.)

If she (Jolie) chooses to be a "working mother" doing another film, then big deal: She changed her mind. Personally, I would not want to be held publicly accountable for every word I utter. Circumstances change. Opinions change. If we don't judge a mother who is, for instance, that previously mentioned hypothetical doctor, married to a lawyer, with young kids, who chooses to work even though she doesn't financially need to, then we don't get to judge an actor's decisions, either -- about how she looks, or how she raises her kids (since she is not violating any clear principles of parenthood that necessitate intervention on anyone's part, and is doing a pretty good job, in my opinion, at raising awareness about kids in need around the world).

And the fact is, none of us really know what her personality is like off-camera, but I think we can safely assume she has a mixture of traits both irritating and endearing -- and the people who love her might not even all agree on which traits fall into which category. After all, she's only human. Aren't we all?
